Garage Sales Reminders

Any person having a garage sale MUST obtain a permit from Everman City Hall PRIOR to the day of the event. Failure to do so may result in the issuance of a citation as well as having your garage sale shut down.

The most common violation that the P.D. has to address is the placement of garage sale signs (and any other sign) on utility poles, street signs, stop signs, etc. By City Ordinance, no sign shall be placed on any of the above places or any private property (without owner permission). A person who violates this ordinance is guilty of a Class C misdemeanor and may be fined up to $500. When having a garage sale and getting ready to place signs, a good rule of thumb is if you aren't sure you can put a sign there, don't!

Also, remember that any sign advertising a garage sale must be removed within 24 hours of the end of the sale or by midnight Sunday night, whichever comes first.
