We here at the Everman VFD would like to thank the entire community for coming out and making our 2nd Annual Chili Contest such a success!  Everyone who showed up had a great time and we were able to raise money for badly needed equipment.  We want to thank all of the chili contestants for participating.  Butch Wilson won 1st Place, Courtney Greer won 2nd Place, Sandy Moody won 3rd Place, Justin Greer won Most Unique Name, Charlie Smith won Hottest Chili.  We also want to give a special thanks to Hooters of South Arlington for sending the Hooters Girls to present the awards and for providing the wing party for our raffle.  On a final note, I personally want to thank the following businesses for their support and contributions to our event:  Timber View Golf Club, Radisson Hotel, American Barricade, Gourmet Wood Products, Weston Gardens, May Embroidery, Newell Carpentry & Remodeling, Forever Green, Wal-Mart, Texas Bag Supply, Hickory Stick BBQ, Veraison Village,  Home Depot, Mr. Jim’s Pizza, Dorothy Walker, Cousin’s BBQ, Bennett Printing, Laughing Crafter, Pro-Nuptials, Clip-n-Snip, Party Time Rentals and No More Jumping on the Bed.

A Child is Missing Program

A CHILD IS MISSING uses a 3-part program: a telephone database, a geo-mapping system and satellite imagery. Once it has been confirmed that a child or vulnerable individual is missing by the investigating officer, a call is placed to A CHILD IS MISSING technician. All pertinent information is relayed, such as description, clothing worn, place and time last seen. An imagery satellite program is also used to increase the map tracking accuracy to help visualize areas that may be a danger, such as water or woods, or that may attract a wandering individual, such as a park or mall.

The satellite program has been credited with helping ACIM find individuals in as few as 23 minutes! The goal is to lower the average time of successful recovery to 90 minutes.

After the call is placed to ACIM, an individual message is recorded with the description of the child. This alert is phoned to homes and businesses in the area where the person (child) was last seen. The alert message asks residents to check their property and to call their local law enforcement agency at the number provided should they have any information. If a lead is obtained, the search can be expanded to that area or discontinued.

ACIM has over 60 million phone numbers, excluding unlisted numbers. This automated phone system can send 1,000 recorded alert messages in 60 seconds.

If you receive such a recorded message that starts out with "a child is missing", please be assured this is a legitimate call and any information you might have should be called in to the Everman Police Department.

TARRANT APPRAISAL DISTRICT
PRESS RELEASE !

FILE YOUR 2008 BUSINESS PERSONAL PROPERTY RENDITION ELECTRONICALLY

Tarrant Appraisal District (TAD) reminds business owners that it's time to file their required annual business personal property renditions.

*Business Personal Property (BPP) is taxable in Texas and it is identified as every kind of tangible, income-producing property that is not real estate.

*A rendition is a report or statement by a business owner which lists a company's machinery, furniture, equipment, vehicles, merchandise and any other BPP that was in his control or possession on January 1.

* Your rendition is confidential by law.

TAD mails rendition forms in late December to businesses in operation that year and some new establishments that will be taxable the next year.

* If your business has not received a form, please visit our website at www.tad.org.

* The "Applications and Forms" link will direct you to the form that best suits your business type.

TAD offers taxpayers an "eRendition" service making electronic filing of renditions available through our website as well as an online "Extension Request" service to those who opt for a 30-day filing extension.

Be sure to file your rendition by April 15th to avoid a 10% penalty on your tax statement.

If you cannot file your rendition by April 15th, you must request an extension in writing or through our website no later than April 15th. Deadlines that fall on weekends and legal holidays are extended to the next regular business day.

For more information on the rendition process, please visit us online at www.tad.org or phone 817/284-9101.

GOT BOOKS?

All of the Everman ISD Elementary Schools have active BOOK BANKS !

The book banks work like money banks. Students are welcome to "withdraw" any book if they have another book to "deposit". The student can then keep the book permanently or can bring it back to "deposit" it and "withdraw" another book. A "withdrawal" cannot be made without a "deposit" being made. JUST LIKE IN REAL LIFE ! Each book bank needs a reserve of books to keep the program operating. That is why we need your book donations. If you have any elementary level books (new or used) that you would like to donate, contact one of our elementary schools. You may also deposit your books at:
